Skin cycling is a PM skincare routine that helps you get the most out of your skincare routine while dealing down potential irritation.
The typical skin-cycling routine spans 4️⃣ nights. The star product of this cycle is retinol and using it in this routine helps you get the most out of your retinol
Night 1️⃣: Exfoliate (preferably a chemical exfoliant)
Exfoliating takes care of your dead and rough skin cells and gives your skin an overnight glow. It also ensures you can get the maximum benefits of your retinol and preps your skin for…
Night 2️⃣: Retinol (could be OTC or a prescription)
Retinol is proven to jumpstart collagen and elastin production and speed up cell turnover to address everything from aging to acne. Introducing retinol in this routine ensures minimal irritation.
Nights 3️⃣&4️⃣: Recovery (only a moisturiser)
After 2 ‘active’ nights, you will give your skin a break by simply using a rich moisturiser for nights 3 and 4. This helps repair your skin barrier and deeply nourishing your skin. Stay away from other ‘actives’ or potent ingredients for these nights
This cycle can be altered as per your comfort level and sensitivity to retinol but overall, skin cycling is a great beginner routine to be introduced to retinol and to get your PM routine going.
